Thursday, 23 December 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman blasted a joint statement between the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and UK against Iran.
In reaction to the recent meeting held between the PGCC’s foreign ministers and British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss in Chevening, England, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh blasted the joint statement released after the meeting.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman called the claims “baseless” and “hackneyed” and said some groups “are worried about interaction and cooperation among the regional countries. Iran has always plqyed a “responsible role” in peace-making.”
He also referred to the claim made about the “nuclear escalation” and said “Iran remained committed to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement.
In a relevant remark last month, in his statement addressed to the second session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of nuclear weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction, Iranian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Majid Takht Ravanchi referred to the Zionist regime's nuclear program and called it a real threat to the Middle East region.
He also called on all NPT members, to extend their cooperation and to exert their utmost efforts to ensure the early establishment by regional parties of the Middle East zone.
