Thursday, 23 December 2021 (YJC)_Iranian Fording Minister announced that Shalamcheh-Basra railway will become operational as soon as possible.
In a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced that Shalamcheh-Basra railway will become operational as soon as possible.
The conference was held at the Foreign Ministry compound in Tehran, Amir-Abdollahian said “the Shalamcheh railway to Basra will become operational as soon as possible, and in doing so the Iranian Minister of Roads will leave for Iraq next week.”
Cooperation with the Iran-Iraq Judicial Committee in order to speed up work on the prosecution of the perpetrators behind the martyrdom of anti-terror commander Martyr Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi Abu Mahdi Muhandis and the general cancellation of visas for citizens of both sides were also among the issues discussed in today’s session.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Iranian FM pointed to the current Vienna Talks and said “We could reach an agreement in the recent talks, this was an important development. However, we did not find the approach taken by European countries, in particular France, constructive.”
“The three European countries did not show any initiative in practice,” he noted while adding that “We follow the negotiations in Vienna with goodwill and seriousness.”
