Monday, 20 December 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign Minister hosted and met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
In a meeting on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian hosted the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi in Tehran.
“The need to improve the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan,” was among the issues mentioned by the Iranian Foreign Minister.
The two officials had met on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
“The displacement of the Afghan people inside this country and also their refuge to neighboring countries are two important but saddening issues that we are witnessing. It has been 4 decades that, despite the sanctions and economic pressures, Iran has hosted four million Afghan brothers and sisters,” Amir-Abdollahian said while urging the international organizations to be more active in their responsibilities to the humanitarian situation.
