State Department spokesman Ned Price said Friday evening that the country's priority remains the resumption of constructive talks to return to the nuclear deal.
Speaking at a news conference, he claimed that it was too early to know whether Iran had returned to the talks with a constructive approach.
The remarks come as Joe Biden has claimed he intends to return to the JCPOA after taking office. It has been about 11 months since the Biden administration took office, but the United States continues to pursue a policy of maximum pressure and is not satisfied with the lifting of sanctions imposed on Iran during the Trump era.
During the previous Iranian government, six rounds of talks were held between Iran and the P4+1 group, which did not end due to the Americans' insistence on not lifting all sanctions.
