Friday, 17 December 2021 (YJC)_ The UN General Assembly passed the anti-Iran resolution with 78 votes in favor, 31 against and 69 abstentions.
The UN General Assembly on Friday morning (Tehran time) passed a resolution on what is called the "human rights situation in Iran" and reiterated the anti-Iranian allegations.
The resolution was passed with 78 votes in favor, 31 against and 69 abstentions.
Unlike Security Council resolutions, UN General Assembly resolutions are not disciplinary or binding and are referred to as Recommendations.
The US government, which has resorted to economic terrorism against Iran in recent years, was among the countries that voted in favor of the resolution. Britain, France, Germany, Canada, the Zionist regime, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain were some of the other supporters of the resolution.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has already, in response to the adoption of similar resolutions, emphasized that the observance of human rights is a religious, legal and thematic requirement in the interests of national security and has always been committed to it.
Tehran, however, has condemned the political and instrumental use of human rights by Western countries.
