Thursday, 16 December 2021 (YJC)_ Today, the Hungarian Foreign Minister met with Hussein Amir-Abdollahian at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Siarto, who headed an economic delegation to Tehran, was received today (Thursday) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister then discussed bilateral relations and regional and international developments with his Iranian counterpart.
Peter Siarto also traveled to Tehran in 2015 and met with former Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Amir-Abdollahian and Siarto, the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Hungary, met on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. During the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral relations, especially economic relations and educational cooperation, as well as the latest developments in Afghanistan.
Amir-Abdollahian mentioned the efforts to develop trade and economic relations as one of the main priorities of Iran's relations with Hungary, and in this context, proposed the establishment of a joint commission at the earliest opportunity and the preparation of a roadmap for relations.
He emphasized the need to work on resolving the problems, noting that some previous agreements had not proceeded as quickly as expected.
During the meeting, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, referring to his visit to Tehran in 2015 and the agreements reached during this visit, announced his readiness to hold a joint economic commission in his next visit to Tehran.
