Thursday, 16 December 2021 (YJC)_ Russia's envoy to the Vienna talks described the agreement between Iran and the IAEA on the Karaj facility as a "real achievement" that he said the United States appreciated.
Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's envoy to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency, described the agreement between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency as a "real achievement."
"The United States considers this goodwill of Iran a weakness to put more pressure on it," Ulyanov tweeted Thursday morning, responding to a user comment.
I do not think so. I believe that the United States appreciates the agreement reached between Tehran and Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the Atomic Energy Agency.
He further explained:
At least now I do not hear any more rumors about the extraordinary meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors. The agreement on Karaj is a real achievement. This agreement is fully in line with the needs of the international community.
Prior to the tweet, the Russian diplomat had announced that he would meet again with "Robert Malley", the US Special Representative for Iran.
Ulyanov wrote about this:
I met with Malley this evening. We talked about the current state of affairs in the Vienna talks, as well as the possible way forward.
