Takht-Ravanchi: Iran to Continue its Ballistic Missiles ProgramFollowing the UN Security Council meeting during which UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres gave a report on the implementation of UNSCR 2231, Iran's Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations, Majid Takht-Ravanchi said, in order to preserve its security, the country will continue its activities in the field of ballistic missiles.

He referred to the current Vienna talks and said “Iranian negotiation team is serious and ready to interact meaningfully and constructively with the other parties,” and added “To reach an acceptable and good agreement ASAP, we must all work together.”

He went on to say that “the succeed of Vienna talks is on good faith,” and noted “Iran has fulfilled its obligations and it has made all efforts to preserve the JCPOA more than its fair share, now it’s up to US and EU to return to the full implementation of their commitments under the JCPOA.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Takht-Ravanchi referred to Iran's activities in the field of ballistic missiles and satellites carriers and said “Ballistic missiles and satellite carriers are essential to our security and socio-economic interests and we will keep working on them.”

“Under international law, having a conventional missile program is the inherent right of the Iranian nation and it is not in violation of Resolution 2231,” he added.
