Tuesday, 14 December 2021 (YJC)_ Iran’s lead negotiator announced that negotiations will continue seriously and intensively while referring to his recent meetings with the Russian and Chinese representatives.
Iran’s lead negotiator Ali Baqeri Kani wrote a message on his twitter account and announced that negotiations will continue seriously and intensively while referring to his recent meetings with the Russian and Chinese representatives.
“This afternoon I held a constructive and fruitful meeting with Russian and Chinese chief negotiators. We shared ideas about how to proceed and also coordinated our positions about several issues,” Bagheir Kani wrote.
He went on to add that “We will continue our intensive and serious engagement to reach a good deal.”
Currently, the Iranian official is in Vienna to attend negotiations on lifting sanctions against Iran.
On Thursday afternoon it is announced that the 8th round of Vienna talks between Iran and P4+1 has started in Coburg Hotel.
“The removal of the sanctions imposed by the US on Iran after its unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear deal” is the main aim of the current talks.
Prior to this twitter message, in an interview Ali Baghri Kani said that the deal that was signed between Iran and the world powers in 2015 is the basis of the current Vienna talks.
On Friday Reuters claimed from a European source that Iran was ready to work on the basis of earlier nuclear talks and was willing to continue the Vienna talks on the basis of texts prepared in June.
After that, a source close to Iran’s negotiating team, rejected this claim, while noting that “In its talk with China, Iran announced that the text of the previous six rounds of the Vienna talks was respectable but because it was not agreed upon, it would be negotiable.”
Also in a relevant message, referring to his meeting with Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Linhart, Iranian top negotiator, Ali Bagheri Kani said false reports from outside the session cannot make Iran weak and the nuclear deal is alive because of Iran's responsible conduct.
He also added “Deal is alive because of Iran's responsible conduct. Dishonest reports from outside negotiating room won't weaken our will to reach a deal securing our nation's rights & interests.”
