US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken today (Tuesday) reiterated claims of alternatives in the event of the failure of the Vienna talks, declaring diplomacy the best option on the issue of Iran's nuclear program.
The secretary of state said the United States would continue to pursue diplomacy with Iran because it was one of the best options available.
Speaking at a news conference in Indonesia, he said:
The United States is preparing alternatives if "nuclear talks" with Iran fail.
According to Reuters, Blinken added that Washington is actively interacting with its allies and partners on alternatives.
Earlier, US State Department spokeswoman Jalina Porter told a news conference that it was too early to judge whether Iran's approach had become "more constructive."
The senior State Department official also claimed: "But I will say that our priority is to revitalize constructively these negotiations with all parties seeking to achieve and implement a speedy and reciprocal return to adherence to the JCPOA."
