The spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Sari, announced the downing of a US-made drone on Friday evening.
A spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces said:
Our air defenses - thank God - were able to shoot down an American-made Scan Eagle spy drone.
Yahya was quick to add that the drone, which was carrying out a hostile operation in Ma'rib province, had been shot down in the skies of the city of Sarah.
Sari also said that the American spy drone was shot down with a suitable weapon. However, he did not mention the name of the weapon.
The announcement comes as the military has announced in recent weeks the downing of several Saudi spy drones in various parts of Yemen.
