Saturday, 11 December 2021 (YJC)_ During their meeting, the Speakers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria emphasized the establishment of parliamentary friendship groups and their effective role in the relations between the two countries.

Joint emphasis on establishing parliamentary friendship groups in the meeting of the Speakers of Iran and AlgeriaDr. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, met with the Speaker of the Algerian Assembly on the sidelines of the 16th Conference of the Union of Islamic Cooperation.

Algerian Parliament Speaker Ibrahim Bugali said at the meeting:
We were very much looking forward to meeting with you and we followed up on this issue from Algeria. In the new term that has been in place for the past six months, the Algerian Parliament has sought to establish parliamentary relations and a friendship group with the Iranian parliament.

Noting that we seek to help improve relations between the two countries by promoting parliamentary relations, he added:
On the issue of Palestine, which was the main topic of the meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, we seek to establish good cooperation between the various Palestinian groups, and we think that this issue can help resolve the Palestinian issue.

"We have a very good convergence, common view and common thinking on the Palestinian issue with the Islamic Republic of Iran," he said.
In our opinion, the Islamic Republic of Iran is a regional and global power on which we rely a lot and we hope to find a solution to the Palestinian issue, which is one of the main crises in the Islamic world.

The Speaker of the Algerian Parliament added:
Algeria does not get involved in the issue of normalization that some Islamic countries have entered into because we consider it to weaken the Palestinian issue and we believe that it will not help Palestine.

Reiterating his call for the promotion of parliamentary relations with Iran, he said:
I officially invite Mr. Qalibaf to visit Algeria.

The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said:
There are many political and religious commonalities and ties between the two nations of Iran and Algeria, and we in the Islamic Consultative Assembly are also ready to establish a parliamentary friendship group between the two countries. This group can help promote the political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
