Thursday, 9 December 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian Minister of Petroleum met with Azeri delegation and discussed gas cooperation between the two countries.
Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji hosted a meeting with Azeri delegation and discussed gas cooperation between the two countries.
The Azeri delegation headed by the CEO of SOCAR, Rovnag Ibrahim Abdullayev met with the Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji in his Tehran office.
During this meeting Iranian minister underlined the development of bilateral relations and Tehran-Baku cooperation in the field of oil and gas.
“The development of gas cooperation, the implementation of the tripartite gas swap agreement between Iran, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, and preparation of the implementation stages of the deal” were among other issues discussed by two sides during the meeting.
In a relevant remark, Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raeisi said that the gas agreement signed between Tehran, Baku and Turkmenistan will make Iran a hub for transit of gas in the region.
A trilateral agreement to swap 1.2 to two billion cubic meters of Turkmenistan’s natural gas to the Republic of Azerbaijan via Iran was signed in Ashgabat in the presence of Iranian president and his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev.
