According to RT, 100 Myanmar army soldiers reportedly entered the village of Don Tau in the Sajaying area on Tuesday, gathered 11 residents in a pit and set them on fire.
Mani Mong, a spokesman for Human Rights Watch, said in a report that the militants had deliberately set them on fire so that everyone could see them and cause panic in the area.
Myanmar's national unity government, which opposes martial law, has called the move a war crime and released the names of those killed. There are five teenagers among them.
