Thursday, 9 December 2021 (YJC)_ The Russian president called Ukraine's membership in NATO and the deployment of coalition forces in that country a threat to Moscow's national security, and said Russia's concerns should be heard.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday evening that Russia would send ideas to Washington within a week to pursue talks with its US counterpart Joe Biden on the Ukraine crisis.
In an interview with reporters, Putin explained:
We agreed to continue this discussion and we will do it fundamentally. We will exchange ideas in the near future. Russia will literally draw its ideas in the coming days, within a week we will give it to the Americans to consider.
According to Reuters, he stated in his first public statement after talks with Biden:
The question of whether Russia intends to invade Ukraine is "provocative," and it is Kiev and NATO that threaten Russia's security.
The President of Russia stated:
We can not worry about the prospect of Ukraine's possible accession to NATO, because the deployment of military forces, bases and weapons that threaten us will undoubtedly follow.
