Wednesday, 8 December 2021 (YJC)_ Chief Executive of Ports and Maritime Organization said that the US unilateral and illegal sanctions is a threat to the maritime security.
During his remarks at the 32nd meeting of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Chief Executive of Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Ali-Akbar Safaei said that the US unilateral and illegal sanctions is a threat to the maritime security.
“Restrictive measures by the US as one of the member states of International Maritime Organization (IMO) is continuing against Iranian maritime transport industry and that is a threat to the security of maritime and is contrary to the rules of maritime treaties,” he said.
He went on to put emphasis on the fact that the main goal of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is the cooperation of its member in order to ensure maritime safety and security.
“In spite of the role of the Iranian government in IMO’s maritime issues and effective implementation of maritime treaties, we are witnessing restrictive actions by US government against Iran maritime transport industry,” he finally noted while strongly condemned these actions and urged all members to pay attention to the negative effects of these actions.
