In response to the delay in recognizing the group's interim government by the United Nations, the Taliban called the move unfair and called for a reconsideration.
The Foreign Ministry of the Taliban interim government said in a statement about the new UN resolution regarding the postponement of the recognition of the interim government of this group:
The new government, as a responsible system and an independent government that has ensured the security of its people, has the legal right to represent the Afghan people in the United Nations.
The Taliban stressed that denying the legitimate rights of the Afghan people has no legal basis.
The statement said that Afghanistan's seat is in the hands of someone who has no affiliation with the country and also has no sovereignty over any part of the country and ignores the legitimate rights of the Afghan people.
On the other hand, Enamullah Samangani, the deputy spokesman of the Taliban, also said in this regard:
It is unfair to hand over Afghanistan a seat in the United Nations to someone who does not represent the government and people of Afghanistan.
He tweeted that this seat is the right of the government and people of Afghanistan and that the United Nations should reconsider.
Meanwhile, the UN General Assembly has issued a new resolution on Afghanistan, which delays the recognition of the Taliban government.
It also rejected the Taliban's proposed representative to the United Nations.
The Taliban have named Soheil Shahin as Afghanistan's permanent representative to the United Nations.
