Tuesday, 7 December 2021 (YJC)_ The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed that the United States has figured out the current status of the agreement by withdrawing from the JCPOA:Washington must lift all illegal sanctions against Iran.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman told reporters at a weekly news conference in Tehran on Monday evening that China's views on world developments, including talks on lifting sanctions on Iran, would help all parties better understand the new Iranian government's position.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry website, Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said in response to a question about the new positions of the United States, Germany and France in the Vienna talks:
With the coordinated efforts of all parties, the seventh round of negotiations began with the resumption of the JCPOA in Vienna. Although no progress was made in the negotiations, all sides showed a serious attitude and agreed to return to the JCPOA exactly as it is. Based on the text of the previous six rounds of talks, the two sides held comprehensive talks on lifting sanctions and nuclear issues, and the Iranian side offered documents. These interactions will help all parties to better understand the positions of the new Iranian government.
The Chinese diplomat continued:
In the current situation, all parties must be politically committed to dialogue and negotiation and work to expand consensus and advance the negotiation process. At present, the important point is to focus on unresolved issues, to adopt a flexible and open attitude, to show political wisdom, to seek practical solutions, and to try to reach an agreement on the resumption of the implementation of the JCPOA as soon as possible.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed:
As the initiator of the Iran nuclear crisis, the United States must lift all unilateral illegal sanctions against Iran, China, and other third parties, and Iran must live up to its nuclear commitments accordingly. All stakeholders must be rational and self-controlled.
