Iranian President: We are Looking for Strengthen Tehran-Damascus Ties

Monday, 6 December 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian President described Tehran-Damascus relations as strategic and emphasized on the importance of strengthening the foundations of the relations between two countries.

Iranian President: We are Looking for Strengthen Tehran-Damascus TiesIn a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria Faisal Mekdad on Monday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi described Tehran-Damascus relations as strategic and emphasized on the importance of strengthening the foundations of the relations between two countries.

“To develop and deepen relations between Tehran and Damascus a long-term, comprehensive planning should be done,” Iranian president said.

“Trade and economic exchanges between Iran and Syria much lower than the desired level, and there are many capacities to increase the volume of this field by activating which, the volume of economic exchanges can be increased several times,” he said.

He went on to pointed to the illegal presence of foreign forces in the region and in Syria, and said “Today, security, peace and stability is in danger just because of US presence everywhere in the region.  Great martyrs such as Qasem Soleimani damaged the United States and its proxy groups in the region, including ISIL and Zionist terrorism.”

“Syria is the epitome of resistance against the Zionist regime, the history of the resistance of Syrian people and government will be proudly recorded," he added.

He, finally, highlighted territorial the necessity to respect the integrity of Syria, and added “Ignoring the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries by any country is not acceptable and the Syrian people will certainly not tolerate it.
