Iranian, Japanese FMs Discuss JCPOA and Bilateral Ties

Friday, 3 December 2021 (YJC)_In a phone talk with his Japanese counterpart, Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the need to expand bilateral ties in different fields and also discussed JCPOA talks.

Iranian, Japanese FMs Discuss JCPOA and Bilateral TiesIn his remarks in a phone talk with his Japanese counterpart Yoshimasa Hayashi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed the need to expand bilateral ties in different fields and also discussed JCPOA talks.

At first, Iranian minister congratulated Hayashi on his appointment and conveyed the warmest greetings of Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi to the high-ranking Japanese officials while appreciating Japan’s humanitarian assistance in the fight against COVID-19.

He went on to review the various aspects of bilateral relations and announced Iran’s readiness to expand ties in the fields of economy, trade, humanitarian, environment and health with Japan while noting that this can be applied to all fields from Iran’s point of view.

Amir-Abdollahian also pointed to the current humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, emphasized the need for sending humanitarian aid to this country and said “All countries must rush help suffering Afghan people, Iran is also ready to facilitate humanitarian aids to this country.”

Elsewhere in his remarks he referred to the Afghan’s refugees in Iran and said “2.5 million Afghan refugees have so far been vaccinated; we are also ready to send Japanese humanitarian aid to the Afghan people.”

Iranian foreign minister also referred to Vienna talks and said “US officials want to negotiate and return to JCPOA but they are imposing new sanctions on Iranian individuals and institutions at the same time.”

“Serious negotiations and a good agreement will be welcomed by Iran, also other parties should show their goodwill,” he added.
