Tuesday, 30 November 2021 (YJC)_ Iran became a member of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

Iran Becomes OPCW Executive Council MemberAt the 26th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention in The Hague, Iran became a member of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) for a period of 2 years.

“Iraq, Pakistan and Malaysia” were other countries apparat from Iran that became members of the Executive Council for the period of 2 years.

The Executive Council is the executive organ of the OPCW and consists of 41 members from the five regional groups. It is also is responsible to the 193 members of the Conference of the States Parties and promotes the effective implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), and compliance with it.

The 26th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention takes place will be continued to 3 December 2021.
