FM: Any Vienna Agreement Should Guarantee Other Sides’ Return to N. Deal UndertakingsIn a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that any agreement achieved in Vienna talks should guarantee implementation of the other sides’ undertakings based on the nuclear deal.

“Any possible agreement must guarantee the opposite side would return to its complete obligations under JCPOA,” he said while noting that “Iran will stop its remedial measures, only if Western allies resume their obligations.”

Amir-Abdollahian went on to say that “We have entered the talks in good faith and with seriousness, in spite of all non-commitment and inaction form US and European countries.”

“A good agreement that could be hammered out in Vienna had to be effectively verifiable too.”

For his part, Antonio Guterres welcomed Vienna talks’ resumption, and expressed support on the part of the world body for the JCPOA's revival.

Saturday night, it was announced that the top Iranian negotiator deputy foreign minister Ali Bagheri Kani has arrived in Vienna, Austria to discuss the removal of the illegal sanctions.

Prior to that, in an interview with Independent, he said “the talks will fail if all sanctions are not lifted.”
