Tuesday, 30 November 2021 (YJC)_ The Kuwaiti judiciary has extended the detention of 12 people recently arrested on charges of financing Lebanese Hezbollah.
Kuwaiti media have reported that the judge in the case of 12 people arrested on charges of allegedly financing Hezbollah movements has extended the detention of the 12 men.
The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas reported that the judge ordered an extension of their detention and opposed all requests for the defendants' release.
According to the report, these 12 people appeared in court and denied all the charges.
The Kuwaiti prosecutor's office is still investigating two other defendants.
Kuwaiti media recently reported that the country's Attorney General had arrested 18 people on charges of allegedly financing Hezbollah in Lebanon and sentenced them to 21 days in prison. (More details)
Kuwait's move comes as Saudi Arabia recently called a charity affiliated with the Hezbollah movement a terrorist group and banned any interaction with it.
Pressure from some Gulf Arab states, particularly Saudi Arabia, on Lebanon and the Hezbollah movement has intensified following recent remarks by Lebanese Information Minister George Qardahi.
