Syria reaffirmed its principled and firm stance in support of the Palestinian cause, the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the creation of an independent state on its soil in the capital, Jerusalem.
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad sent a message on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, saying that this day has become a global forum that keeps the Palestinian cause alive in the minds of the international community.
Referring to the continuing dangers that still threaten the Palestinian issue, he stated that to date, no progress has been made by the international community in ending the Israeli occupation.
The Syrian Foreign Minister stressed the firm position of the country in rejecting and condemning the occupation of Arab lands, war crimes and crimes against humanity by the Zionist regime and said:
It opposes any decision or action that is inconsistent with UN resolutions and does not protect Palestinian rights.
Meqdad said that the countries supporting the Zionist regime are responsible for the consequences of the continuation of the crimes of this regime, and called on the UN member states to take responsibility for the tragedy of the Palestinian people and to take concrete and serious steps to counter the aggression of the occupying regime.
