Iranian Official Blasted US Economic Terrorism on Developing StatesIn his remarks at the first meeting of the parliamentary network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NIM), Deputy Speaker of Iran Parliament, Ali Nikzad criticizes US economic terrorism on developing states.

Nikzad has traveled to the Spanish capital of Madrid to participate at the 143rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and said that US economic terrorism imposed on the developing states is a serious concern that should be dealt with.

He went on to thank Azerbaijan for presenting this idea in the meeting, and added “The fundamental ideas of Non-Aligned Movement is the desire to maintain independence and to avoid competition between the two superpowers, ensuring national independence, political sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of member states are what has been the focus of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) since the beginning of its establishement.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Nikzad emphasized that “After about three decades of Cold War, Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) has adapted itself to the new conditions and challenges of the world. We believe, in order to achieve objectives of the Non-Aligned Movement within the framework of the UN Charter, NAM established its own parliamentary network to use the potentials of its members.”

Finally, he said “Economic terrorism in the form of illegal and extraterritorial sanctions against freedom-seeking nations is morally wrong.”
