Despite Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's order to investigate the causes of the sharp fall in the value of the country's currency, popular groups are still protesting the poor economic situation, inflation and inflation.
Turkish media reported today (Monday) that amid the worsening economic crisis in Turkey, the Labor, Democracy and Freedom electoral coalition planned to gather in front of the Çankaya شهرداریstanbul Municipality in Ankara on Sunday evening to read a statement.
According to the independent news site Beyanet, Ankara police, however, attacked a group representing the coalition in protest of the economic crisis in Turkey and demanding the resignation of the government.
Turkish security forces cordoned off the protest site in front of the Çankaya Municipality and did not allow the statement to be made, and even prevented journalists and the media from approaching to cover the incident.
As citizens dispersed in the streets around the rally site after police intervened, security forces attacked them again and arrested several people, including a journalist, according to the report.
According to Turkish media, a total of 17 people were beaten and detained during the protests.
