Sunday, 28 November 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian health minister said that the new variant of Covid-19 has not yet been detected in the country.

Health Minister: No case of Omicron Detected in IranIn a press conference on the newly identified coronavirus variant Omicron, the Iranian health minister, Bahram Einollahi said that the new variant of Covid-19 has not yet been detected in the country to date.

“Fortunately, no case of newly identified coronavirus variant has been reported in Iran to date,” he said while noting that a travel ban for nationals of six countries has been announced by the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus.

“Since the new administration led by President Ebrahim Raeisi, as many as 100 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered in Iran,” he added while noting that after nine months of struggling with the virus, the country is in a good position.

Finally, he called on the people to stick to the health protocols to keep the downward trend of Covid-19 in the country.

In a separate remark, head of the parliamentary health commission, Hossein Ali Shahriari warned that there is a high possibility of the entry of Omicron into Iran.

In the past 24 hours the Covid-19 killed 80 Iranians while 3,781 new cases were detected across the country, according to the statement by the health ministry.
