Sunday, 28 November 2021 (YJC)_ The Presidents of Iran and Pakistan stressed the need to develop and enhance the level of relations and coordination between the two countries in bilateral and regional arenas.
Hojatoleslam Seyyed Ibrahim Raeisi on Sunday during a visit to Turkmenistan during a meeting with Pakistani President Aref Alavi, referring to the commonalities and broad capacities for the development of Tehran-Islamabad cooperation, said:
The two countries have not only a neighborly relationship but also a deep heart, historical and cultural relationship, and the use of these capacities in the development of relations is in the interest of the two nations and the progress and development of the region.
Expressing that the will of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to develop and deepen comprehensive relations with Pakistan, the President said:
We consider the relations between the two countries to be insufficient due to the vast available capacities and we are determined to activate all the capacities in the interests of the two nations and the nations of the region.
Referring to the areas and capacities of Tehran-Islamabad cooperation in the development of border markets, transit, transportation, energy and tourism, Hojatoleslam Raeisi said:
The Islamic Republic of Iran has no restrictions on developing relations with Pakistan.
The President further stressed the need to support the oppressed nations, especially the people of Afghanistan, and said:
Twenty years of foreign presence in Afghanistan has not only not solved Afghanistan's problems, but has resulted in nothing but oppression, killing, looting and insecurity.
Hojatoleslam Raeisi noted:
The Islamic Republic of Iran supports the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan that represents all Afghan people, ethnic groups and political groups, and we stand ready to work with Pakistan in this regard.
Emphasizing the need for humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan, the President said:
We consider the presence of about 4 million Afghan refugees in Iran to be the result of American oppression of these oppressed people, and despite the problems and restrictions, we have welcomed them as Iranians.
The President added:
ISIS is made by the Americans and they are using it to create insecurity in Afghanistan and the region, so we must stand against it.
Pakistani President Aref Alavi also said in the meeting that Pakistan seeks to develop trade and economic relations with Iran:
Islamabad attaches importance to increasing the level of relations and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Pakistani President Aref Alavi further pointed out the importance of the three border markets in expanding trade between the two countries and said:
The Minister of Commerce of the Government of Pakistan has traveled to these areas for the prosperity of these markets and we are ready to increase the value of exchanges between Iran and Pakistan many times with the cooperation of Iran.
Aref Alavi said:
Pakistan, like the Islamic Republic of Iran, calls for the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, and we believe that cooperation is essential for peace in this country.
