According to the report, given the importance of Spain in the European Union and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region, the two sides stressed the need for cooperation and mutual consultation on various regional and global issues.

During the meeting, the Vice President of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stressed the need to preserve Europe's independence in various international issues, and expressed hope that Spain, as an EU member state, would play a role in advancing the nuclear negotiation process.

The President of the Spanish House of Representatives also thanked Iran for its constructive cooperation in expelling Afghan nationals from Afghanistan.
