China: US sanctions are detrimental to global supply chainsThe Chinese government on Thursday condemned US sanctions against 12 Chinese companies and warned of the consequences.

According to Sputnik, a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said:
The United States has imposed new sanctions on 12 Chinese companies without any real basis, which is not in the interests of either country or the recovery of the global economy.

The Chinese official added:
These sanctions are detrimental to global security of the industrial supply chain, and such actions run counter to the consensus reached between the two presidents in their recent consultation.

Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Thursday that "China reserves the right to retaliate against US sanctions and strongly defends the rights of Chinese companies."

The United States on Wednesday blacklisted 12 Chinese groups involved in quantum computing and other advanced technologies, saying they posed a risk to the Chinese People's Liberation Army's access to vital American technology.

According to the Financial Times, the move, which makes it almost impossible for US companies to sell technologies to companies on the list, targeted a total of 27 entities, including 12 in China and two affiliates in Japan and Singapore. In addition to quantum computing, the list includes companies in the semiconductor and aerospace industries.
