Wednesday, 24 November 2021 (YJC)_ The Chinese Foreign Ministry condemned the US invitation to Taiwan to attend the Democracy Summit and called for an end to collusion with Taiwanese separatists.
The Chinese government on Wednesday responded to the US government's invitation to Taiwan to attend a so-called "democracy" summit.
According to Reuters, the US State Department has included the names of more than 100 countries in its list of guests for its democracy summit.
Meanwhile, the name of Taiwan, which the United States claims does not recognize the principle of "single China" as a country, appears in the list. However, China and Russia are not among those invited.
In addition to China and Russia, there are other countries opposed to US policy, including Belarus, Hungary, North Korea, Venezuela and Nicaragua.
In the West Asian region, only the names of Iraq and the Zionist regime are seen, and Turkey, as a US ally in NATO, is not on the list.
According to Reuters, the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the US decision and said:
Inviting our country to participate in the Democracy Summit is a confirmation of Taiwan's efforts to promote the values of democracy and human rights in recent years.
Meanwhile, according to the CJT website, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian condemned Taiwan's invitation to the summit and called on the United States to end collusion with the island's separatists.
The Guardian quoted Zhou Fengulian, spokesman for the Chinese government's Taiwan affairs office, as saying that inviting Taiwan to the summit was "wrong" and that Beijing "opposes any formal interaction between the United States and the Taiwan region of China."
The Chinese government official added:
This stance is clear and consistent. We urge the United States to adhere to the principle of a "single China" and three official declarations in this regard.
