Wednesday, 24 November 2021 (YJC)_ A spokesman for the Taliban interim government confirmed the resumption of talks between the group and the United States, saying that the talks were aimed at freeing the frozen assets of the Afghan people and resolving their economic problems.

Bakhtar News Agency quoted Mujahid as saying that Taliban officials are trying to free the frozen assets of the Afghan people and solve the economic problems of the Afghan people during the talks.

According to Mujahid, the Taliban have met several times with US envoys under the Doha agreement, and these meetings are in the interest of the United States and the Taliban. He stressed that in these meetings, new commitments are made and concerns are eliminated.

The Taliban spokesman also added that these meetings could establish and establish diplomatic relations between the United States and the Taliban, which would benefit both sides.

He added that the Taliban was committed to its commitments and called on the United States to meet with the group's officials from time to time.

Earlier, AFP reported that the United States would resume talks with the Taliban next week in Qatar.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said Washington would resume talks with the Taliban in Qatar next week.
