Culture Minister: Iran is Looking for Enhanced Cultural Ties with Regional StatesIn a meeting with Tajik Ambassador to Tehran Nezamoddin Zahedi, Iranian Culture Minister, Mohammad Mehdi Esmayeeli said the country is looking for the expansion of the cultural ties with regional states.

“We speak the same language therefore, we do not need translators, or interpreters, which shows the depth of the two nations’ cultural commonalities,” Esmayeeli sai while noting that Iranian people consider the Tajik government as a brother of theirs and the Tajik nation as a friendly neighbor.

“Current administration put its focus primarily on the Persian-speaking countries in Central Asia and the region, including Tajikistan,” he said while adding that “We are all in a single linguistic complex and this singularity shows we have the mutuality needed for joint cultural interactions.”

Finally, he proposed cultural cooperation in fields such as cinema, music, fine arts, dramatic arts, and literature and welcomed holding Tajikistan Culture Week in Tehran and the other Iranian cities.

Also, in the meeting, for his part, the Tajik ambassador pointed to the mutual background in cultural and artistic fields between the two nations and expressed hope that Iran and Tajikistan’s cultural cooperation will from now on expand more than ever before in practice.
