Referring to the visit of IAEA chief Rafael Grossi to Tehran, Professor of American Studies at the University of Tehran Foad Izadi criticized IAEA for being political and said that the IAEA chief follows the US orders directly.
“Instead of being an institution that has technical concerns about nuclear issues, IAEA has become a US-owned entity, and Grossi follows the US orders directly,” he said while noting “The US unilateral sanctions must be lifted completely.”
He went on to say that “if they want Iran to return to its JCPOA commitments, sanctions must be lifted in a verifiable manner,” and also highlighted that Iran needs an assurance to become sure that the lifting of the sanctions is not temporary.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed out the new US sanctions on Iran and said that the only message can be interpreted from these sanctions is “US anti-Iranian policy continues. They manifest the lack of goodwill in observing the first and foremost principle of the negotiation.”
