Monday, 22 November 2021 (YJC)_ The Russian foreign minister said he had handed over images of the explosion in the port of Beirut to Lebanon and expressed hope that the truth and the cause of the incident would be clarified.

Lavrov: We delivered satellite images of the Beirut port explosion to LebanonRussian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday announced the delivery of satellite images of the explosion in the port of Beirut to the Lebanese government.

Lavrov told a joint news conference with his Lebanese counterpart Abdullah Bouhabib:
We discussed the possibility of Russian companies contributing to Lebanese infrastructure damaged by the explosion in the port of Beirut.

The Russian Foreign Minister added:
We have provided satellite images prepared by the Russian company Cosmos to help understand the cause of the explosion in the port of Beirut. We hope we can help find the truth and the cause of the explosion.

Lavrov continued:
I reaffirmed our commitment to the right of national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon. All Lebanese internal issues must be resolved inside the country and with respect for the rights of its people. This is exactly what Mr. [Najib] Mikati's government is doing, and we hope that it will end the Lebanese crisis and restore stability to the country.

The senior Russian diplomat said:
Foreign interference in Lebanese affairs is detrimental to the country and to the region as a whole, and it should not be offered to fight by third parties. We oppose Lebanon becoming a hostage to the Syrian crisis.

Lavrov added:
We also talked about the Syrians who fled to Lebanon and we are confident that the international community can help resolve this issue.
