Sunday, 21 November 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian President urged a major change in the function of the country’s free trade zones.

President Raeisi Called for a Major Change in the Function of Iran’s Free Trade ZonesDuring his remarks on Sunday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi, called for a major change in the function of the country’s free trade zones and what them to become the hub of exports and financial relations.

He criticized the low volume of non-oil exports from the Iranian free trade zones and called for a serious development in the function of special economic zones.

“Free trade zone must turn into the hub of exports, boom in production, and financial exchanges,” Iranian President said while adding that “These zoned have proper capacities and requirements for job creation.”

He went on to add that “Free trade zones should by no means function as the center of uncontrolled imports.”

In January, 60 economic and infrastructural projects including industrial plants, steel production factories, oil refineries, and port development plans were inaugurated in six different free trade and industrial zones and special economic zones of Iran. They provided employment for more than 3,200 people.
