At the Manama Dialogue regional security summit, the US Secretary of Defense reiterated Washington's commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and pursuing a diplomatic solution.
According to the Associated Press, the senior US Department of Defense official stressed at the Manama Dialogue's annual meeting the US commitment to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and to counter Iran's "dangerous use" of suicide drones in the region.
At the security summit, Lloyd Austin commented on US-Iranian-mediated talks in Vienna, reiterating the baseless allegations made by Washington and its allies about the nature of Iran's nuclear program.
The head of the Pentagon stated:
The United States remains committed to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, and we remain committed to a diplomatic solution to the nuclear issue.
The senior US official then claimed:
But if Iran does not want to engage seriously, then we will look at all the options necessary to maintain US security.
