The United Nations Security Council has issued a statement condemning Yemen's Ansarullah's alleged attack on the former US embassy in Sanaa.
A statement issued Thursday evening said:
Members of the Security Council condemn the arrest of dozens of local staff in the strongest new and ongoing Houthi tone in the seizure of a building formerly used as the US Embassy in Sanaa.
Members of the UN Security Council have called for the "immediate withdrawal of all Houthi members from these buildings." The Security Council has also demanded the immediate release of all those detained in connection with the allegations.
A few days ago, some news sources claimed without providing sufficient documentation that Ansarullah had attacked the US embassy in Sanaa and arrested a number of local staff. Last Thursday, a State Department spokesman called for the release of local US embassy staff in Sanaa, claiming that Ansarullah gunmen had "attacked" the US embassy, which has been closed in Sanaa since 2015.
