Thursday, 18 November 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the country is eager to the further development of ties with members of the Indian Ocean Rim Association.
During his remarks in the 21st Annual Council of Ministers (COM) meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) in Dhaka that led virtually, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stressed the country is eager to the further development of ties with members of the Indian Ocean Rim Association.
Iranian Foreign minister underscored the potentials of the Indian Ocean Rim Association in terms of economic cooperation and said that the prospect of cooperation within the IORA format seems promising.
“Iran is aware of this huge potential for regional cooperation, we are determined to expand our relations with this association,” he said.
Amir-Abdollahian also referred to the pandemic situation in Iran and the US unilateral sanctions, and said that “the Iranian nation have struggled with the COVID-19 and its effects under the illegitimate and cowardly sanctions imposed by the United States.”
“Lifting of sanctions and the realization of Iran's rights will undoubtedly bring positive economic and humanitarian effects,” he said while noting that this cooperation will also lead to a stronger and more effective presence of Iran in regional cooperation arrangements.
The Indian Ocean Rim Association is an inter-governmental organization which was established on 7 March 1997.
