Thursday, 18 November 2021 (YJC)_ The Minister of Foreign Affairs said: the lifting of sanctions and the enforcement of Iran's rights, in addition to the positive economic and humanitarian effects, will undoubtedly lead to a stronger and more effective presence of the Islamic Republic in regional cooperation arrangements, including "IORA".
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, addressed the 22nd session of the Council of Ministers of the Union of the Indian Ocean (IORA) and gave a speech.
He expressed satisfaction with attending the meeting and thanked the Bangladeshi government for chairing the IORA term:
In more than two decades of activity and cooperation in the form of IORA, the potential of the union in economic cooperation has been increasingly demonstrated. As the Indian Ocean is full of blessings for the littoral states, so is the prospect of cooperation in IORA.
The Foreign Minister stated:
The Islamic Republic of Iran is aware of this enormous potential for regional cooperation and we are determined to expand our relations with this union.
Amir-Abdollahian, noting that we have recently activated the IORA National Coordination Mechanism and that various Iranian agencies have a new stage of effective participation in the IORA eight cooperation arrangements on the agenda, noted:
The latest development is the candidacy of the Women's Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran to play the role of coordinator of the "IORA Women's Economic Empowerment Program". Also, the "IORA Regional Science and Technology Transfer Center" based in Tehran continues to have the strong support of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The head of the diplomatic corps went on to say that the world is facing the Covid-19 challenge and its devastating consequences:
The noble people of the IORA region have not been spared. The honorable people of Iran have struggled with the corona and its effects in a situation where the huge economic and financial power of the country has been limited by the illegitimate and cowardly sanctions imposed by the United States.
Amir-Abdollahian added:
