Thursday, 18 November 2021 (YJC)_ The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry rejected the resolution on the human rights situation in Iran and addressed the Canadian authorities, saying: "Be accountable for your complicity in the Zionist regime's crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people."
Saeed Khatibzadeh In response to the resolution on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the draft resolution in the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly by Canada with the support of some Western countries and the repetition of baseless allegations based on false information and dishonest generalizations has no legal validity. And rejected outright.
He added:
The resolution is based on weak and scattered international votes, and a significant part of its positive votes has been the result of various political pressures and threats.
Referring to the addiction of Canada and other main founders of the resolution to the continuation of the failed project of "defamation" of Iran, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said:
Unfortunately, some actors, who themselves have a long history of gross human rights abuses, including through the sale of weapons to authoritarian, dictatorial, and aggressive regimes, have made human rights a means of advancing their political ambitions. Such immoral and unjustified movements not only do not help to promote the status of human rights and respect for them globally, but also merely fuel negative stereotypes and political labeling against nations.
Khatibzadeh added:
We condemn the actions of the Government of Canada and the other founders of this resolution, which is a clear example of the abuse of the transcendent concepts and values of human rights to advance short-sighted political motives, and we consider it to have no legal effect.
Referring to the fact that, as in the previous year, out of 193 UN member states, 114 countries expressed their dissatisfaction with the hypocritical approach of the founders of the resolution with a negative or abstention vote, he said:
I reiterate last year's recommendation to the Canadian authorities that instead of hypocritically sympathizing with the human rights of the Iranian people, they stop supporting the US government's economic terrorism against the Iranian people and hosting corrupters and thieves of the Iranian people's wealth to make Canada a safe haven Stop looting property.
Describing supporters of the anti-Iran resolution as meaningful, the State Department spokesman said it was a shame that Canada had brought together a group of notorious human rights governments, including the Zionist regime, the United States and Britain, to educate the Iranian people about human rights. He called on the Canadian authorities to take action to reform their inhumane practices inside and outside the country, and to stop the regime's systematic policy of genocide against Indigenous Canadians and to respond to complicity in the Zionist regime's crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people.
