In an interview with Al Jazeera, Dana Stroll, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East Affairs, said her country was ready to return to the JCPOA.
Reiterating some claims about the nature of Iran's nuclear program, he said that the threats posed by these activities include not only the United States but all of its allies.
Without mentioning her country's role in creating unrest and challenges in Iraq, Stroll said that Washington is fully committed to its security and sovereignty.
He reiterated that the US presence in Syria was aimed at countering ISIS.
The US official also said that her country has no plans to normalize relations with Damascus.
