During a visit to Kabul, Iran's special envoy to Iran, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, said that in a meeting with Taliban officials, "we will review what has happened in Afghanistan to see how a new coordination between Afghanistan can be reached."
He told reporters at Kabul airport that some countries were seeking a proxy war in Afghanistan in the name of fighting terrorism.
Regarding Iran's position on recognizing the Taliban government, the Iranian special envoy also stated: "Iran respects the demands of the Afghan people."
According to a statement from the Iranian embassy in Kabul, Kazemi Qomi is scheduled to discuss with senior Taliban officials "various issues such as regional issues, refugees, humanitarian aid, the formation of an inclusive government, and especially economic issues."
The statement added that helping the people of Afghanistan before the cold season is a priority.
