US-Polish foreign ministers discuss Russia's military moves

Monday, 15 November 2021 (YJC)_ The US and Polish foreign ministers called on Belarus to lift sanctions on Russia, accusing Belarus of taking steps to cover up Russia's military actions in Ukraine.

The State Department said in a statement:
Blinken emphasized US support for Poland in the face of the Belarusian regime's pessimistic abuse of vulnerable asylum seekers.

The statement reiterated the accusations against the government of President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus.
The Lukashenko regime's actions threaten security, create divisions, and aim to divert focus from Russia's [military] activities on the border with Ukraine.

Accordingly, the US and Polish foreign ministers, while condemning the instrumental use of asylum seekers and immigrants, called on Lukashenko to address the root causes of Western sanctions under the pretext of violating human rights and fundamental freedoms for Belarusians.

According to the State Department website, Blinken also expressed "deep appreciation" for Poland's explicit support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying the United States, Poland and other allies and partners were "imposing significant costs on Moscow for military aggression and Its malicious activities in the region are united.
