Sunday, 14 November 2021 (YJC)_ The Russian president criticized the inhumane treatment of migrants by the Polish military, saying Western countries were responsible for the refugee crisis on the Belarusian border because of the outbreak of war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Referring to Western provocations in Iraq and Afghanistan, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the West was responsible for the migrant crisis on the Belarusian-Polish border.
As the European Union prepares to impose new sanctions on Belarus, Putin said in a televised interview Saturday evening that he did not think Belarus was to blame for the refugee crisis.
According to Reuters, he explained:
Let's not forget where these immigrant crises come from. Is Belarus a leader in these problems? No, the causes of these crises were caused by Western and European countries themselves.
Referring to the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Russian president noted that Iraqi Kurds and Afghans are among the refugees on the Belarusian border.
Putin continued:
Belarus has nothing to do with it (the refugee crisis). The fact that they came through Belarus is not surprising because Belarus has visa-free entry for the countries of origin.
According to Reuters, he accused Polish troops on the Belarusian border of beating migrants, firing on them from above, and turning on powerful projectors and sounding sirens at night.
The President of Russia stated:
This is not really in line with the humanitarian thinking that seems to underlie all the policies of our western neighbors.
