Thursday, 11 November 2021 (YJC)_ Afghanistan Electricity Company announced that it will import 100 MW of electricity from the Islamic Republic of Iran to meet part of the country's needs in Herat, Farah and Nimroz provinces.
Breshna said it had signed an agreement with Iran to import 100 megawatts of electricity from Iran to Afghanistan, which could solve some of the electricity shortage challenges in Herat, Farah and Nimroz provinces.
Hekmatullah Noorzai, spokesman for Breshna, said:
We buy 100 MW of electricity from Iran, which reaches Farah, Nimroz and Herat provinces.
Meanwhile, a number of Afghan citizens are complaining about rising power outages due to power shortages in the capital and provinces.
Residents of the capital also say that with the onset of winter, the government should provide electricity 24 hours a day.
Earlier, Breshna officials said that Afghanistan needed 850 megawatts of electricity per year, of which 620 megawatts were imported from neighboring countries and another 230 megawatts were supplied from domestic sources.
