IRGC Navy Commander: US Lies about the Incident in the Sea of OmanDuring his remarks in a ceremony to commemorate the forces that countered US piracy, IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri reacted to the recent US administration’s claim which was its forces were just monitoring the incident in the Sea of Oman and called it a big lie.

“After a lengthy intelligence operation, Iranian units began the operation for seizure and redirecting of the tanker which was located 40 miles off Jask island coast in international waters,” he said.

He went on to say that “Iranian forces had descended from helicopter on the deck and two US warships approached the scene, US ships drew up in battle array, trying to prevent IRGC mission by flying drones and helicopters.”

“After that, three other warships from US side were added to frighten Iranian forces, but they failed and leave the scene when faced with our bravery,” he added.

Recently, US sources claimed that their forces were just monitoring the incident, Alireza Tangsiri reacted to this claim and said that “This is a big lie, the released footage has clearly and undeniably outlined the scene.”

Previously, it has been announced that a successful operation near the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait has been conucted by Iranian naval forces on Monday morning, to thwart a pirate attack on one of the country’s oil tankers.

Pirates en route to the Gulf of Aden were targeted by the escort team of the Iranian Army's Navy before entering the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Four suspect boats carrying 4 to 6 armed pirates intended to attack and approach the tanker, but the escort team forced them to flee the scene.
