Police Official: Over 170 tons of Illicit Drugs Seized in SE Iran in 7 Months

Tuesday, 9 November 2021 (YJC)_ The deputy head of Iran's Police announced that his forces busted over 170 tons of illicit drugs in the period of 7 months in south east of the country.

Police Official: Over 170 tons of Illicit Drugs Seized in SE Iran in 7 MonthsThe deputy head of Iran's Police, Brigadier General Ghasem Rezaei on Tuesday announced that his forces busted over 170 tons of illicit drugs in the period of 7 months in south east of the country.

“More than 170 tons of various kinds of narcotics were seized by Iran's police and anti-narcotics forces in Sistan and Baluchestan province in the first 7 months of the year,” he said while adding that “130 major smugglers were also identified and arrested in the same period.”

He went on to announce that “In the past 72 hours in Sistan and Baluchestan province more than 4.600 tons of different kinds of illicit drugs and some weapons and ammunition have been seized.”

Also, he noted that “during this operation 7 smugglers were arrested.”

Previously, last month, the Police Chief of Sistan and Baluchestan Second Brigadier General Ahmad Taheri announced that its forces have been confiscated over 1 ton of illicit drugs in the south eastern part of the country.
