Khatibzadeh: US Must Remove All Sanctions Complete and Effective

Monday, 8 November 2021 (YJC)_Iranian Foreign ministry spokesman said that it is an obligation for the US administration to lift all sanctions against the country completely and in effective manner.

Khatibzadeh: US Must Remove All Sanctions Complete and EffectiveSpeaking in his weekly press conference, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh reacted to the recent claims of US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan's who said that Tehran is not ready for the JCPOA talks.

“The US should keep in mind that it is not a JCPOA member anymore and it cannot attribute statements to other members of the deal,” Khatibzadeh said.

He went on to say that “in order to return to the nuclear deal the steps are clear for the US administration. All oppressive sanctions against Iran should be lifted completely and effectively. They, also, should guarantee that no US administration will mock the world and international law and such behavior will not be repeated.”

 Elsewhere in his remarks, Khatibzadeh said that the Vienna talks will start on the announced date and announced that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri Kani will attend the meeting as Iran's top negotiator.

Iranian FM spokesperson also noted that this week Ali Baqeri Kani will start his trip to visit several EU countries the he will travel to France, Germany and Britain and said that “During these trips he will discuss Iran’s position regarding JCPOA talks.”

He, finally, announced that “Compensatory actions by Iran will not be stopped until we are confident that US sanctions are lifted completely and in effective manner.”

Last week, it has been announced that the next round of talks aimed at removal of the US sanctions in Vienna will be held on November 29.

Also, on Saturday, Russian and Iranian foreign ministers, Sergei Lavrov and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had a telephone talk in which they discussed the return of the JCPOA to its original format and the resumption of Vienna talks on reviving the JCPOA.

Uring this phone talk, Amir-Abdollahian asked for realist and constructive demands from EU and US regarding the Nuclear deal and said that “Iran is serious in the talks and the need for all parties to return to their obligations.”
