Monday, 8 November 2021 (YJC)_ The Russian Foreign Ministry said that no date has been set for the next meeting between Moscow and Washington, adding that Russia does not believe that the United States will adhere to the principle of non-use of nuclear weapons.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov says there are no details yet about a possible new meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, Ryabkov explained:
I notice that these kinds of reports and newscasts have really increased. But at this stage there is no discussion about the parameters of such a meeting, especially the time of its holding.
He noted that the meeting between the presidents of the United States and Russia is one of the most difficult issues in terms of preparations for the meeting.
The Russian diplomat stated that he did not even have a precise understanding of when and in what form such a meeting could take place:
However, I would like to emphasize once again that this program is relatively more important now. But I do not see any particular reason for how the reports are published in this way.
According to RIA Novosti, Ryabkov also said about the preparation of the meeting between Russia and the United States:
There is no date for the next meeting between the Russian Federation and the United States on strategic stability, the parties are doing preliminary work and analyzing the results of the latest consultations.
According to the report, he explained that the gap between the previous meeting of the delegations of the two sides does not create a problem in the order and flow of these meetings:
We will agree on the dates, we are probably halfway to the next plenary session.
Russia's deputy foreign minister also clarified the possibility of a change in US nuclear policy:
Russia has no reason to believe that Washington can reconsider its policy and move on to the principle of non-use of nuclear weapons.
